Death of an Author Function

Art, at every point, participates in concepts

Tate Modern, London

20 Mar - 20 Jun 2021

This is second installment in a two-part exhibition, involving the removal of the rainforest previously installed inside the Turbine Hall of Tate Modern, and its relocation to a barge that will float up and down the River Thames, passing by the gallery several times a day.

A container is revealed hanging from the ceiling. Inside the container is an object shaped like a coffin. Suspended next to the container is a large three-dimensional arrow that points towards it. Hanging from the bottom of the arrow is a caption that is on view from the first floor and contains the following text:

‘The manner in a which a text apparently points to this figure who is outside and precedes it.’
